Neighbours stars Pippa Black and Sweeney Young have appeared in the new film clip for former Australian Idol contestant Jacob Butler.

The pair, who played Ramsay Street residents Elle Robinson and Riley Parker respectively, star as a young couple in "the classic story of love gone wrong" in the clip for Butler's new single 'Coma'.

"I really love the track, that's why I got on board," said Black. "I've never appeared in a video clip before so it's nice to be involved in something with really relatable lyrics. I think the scenes that we shot are really dramatic and quite emotive with the music."

On working with Young again, the 26-year-old, who recently announced that she is quitting Neighbours, added: "It was fantastic to work with Sweeney again. I haven't seen him for about a year so it was a very nice little reunion that we had and definitely fun - we had some gritty exchanges of conversation within the 'Coma' storyline."

Butler, who finished sixth on the Australian version of The X Factor in 2005 and eighth on Australian Idol in 2007, admitted that he is looking forward to releasing his new single in Australia and the UK.

"I'm really excited to finally be releasing 'Coma'. This has been a long time coming and I can't wait to get out there and play some shows with my band, The Project," he said.

'Coma' is released on iTunes on Friday, August 7.
