| Well done!! I got an A in English I've just found out that I got an A in RE (I took Eng and RE a year early) too which is kinda a miracle as we have the worst teacher in the history of bad teachers! I basically taught myself the entire syllabus in a physics lesson 2hrs before the exam!! One of the chaplain's is trying to get her sacked though | |

| 4 for me: - Business coursework (the moderation was slightly dodgy last year but hopefully it's not enough to make me lose a whole grade on it. Hope not anyway as we finished it in a rush for the deadline so it could have been better anyway.) - Business exam - Should be ok, although it was a bit weird that I finished most of the paper in less than half of the time. Teacher also asked me after the exam how to work out a 12 mark calculation question, so if she didn't know I guess most the class didn't. If that's general across the country then I should be fine. - Psychology - Not too sure about this, the amount that had to be written in the time was horrible and the organisation of my answers could have been better. - Economics - FAIL. Section A was hideous and it had the same number of marks as Section B. Need AAB for uni They recommend no resits of the Psychology and Economics I've just done | |

| Business & Management at Aston uni. I've heard a figure thrown about for it that only one in fourteen get in.. better not miss the grades then, I'd guess there's absolutely zero leniency there! I've also got an offer from them for Business & Psychology for ABB but the Psychology woman at the open day put me off that a bit Love the uni though so will probably have it as insurance. My problem is my erratic grades in Economics. I have a 14% difference between Unit 1 and 2 and it's so much harder this year. Resitting Unit 1 I think but if I have to do Unit 3 as well it won't be such a smart idea, with Unit 4 still to do. Is this the last exam you're waiting for with Geography? Do Lancaster not count your critical thinking? I thought it was only general studies they excluded? | |

| It's not that mathsy, although the latest part that is I can't understand for the life of me. We had this homework where the countries were meant to specialise to produce a welfare gain and we had to calculate how much and which countries specialised in what and I don't know what I did but I came out with something like a 37% net welfare loss lmao. My brain just doesn't like the micro side, which is encouragingly what the one coming out tomorrow is.
That's annoying. What grades do Nottingham Trent want?

| Will do. Not looking forward to it especially as we have to collect them from the deputy head of 6th form's office, who also happens to be my Psychology teacher. If he frowns at me when he gives me the envelope I'll know I've messed up Good luck | |

| Go for General Studies, no-one ever gets good grades in either, but Critical thinking is extremely hard. | |

| If you're looking for what's easier, General Studies without a doubt. Part of it is multiple choice which is easy. Good grades in it are possible, but it doesn't often happen due to the lack of good teaching, so students have to answer the essay questions without really being taught the content, which isn't easy.
The problem with it is the lack of respect for it by universities, which contributes to low results as students reason that it is more worthwhile to devote time to the subjects that they've actually chosen. Critical Thinking isn't as well respected as an A Level you'd actually choose, but more universities will consider that as opposed to General Studies.
From what I've seen though, General Studies does have some content, whereas Critical Thinking is more about constructing and analysing arguments.
So, if you're happy that you can get into the uni that you want (if you want to go that is) without an extra A Level on top of the ones you're choosing, go for General Studies. If you think you might need extra, Critical Thinking would be better although as I've said, not all universities will include it, especially Russell Group ones. If there's one that you're more interested in than the other though, that might be better, as would General Studies if you want to avoid long essay writing to an extent.
